Designed to triple the company’s bag-in-box manufacturing capacity in Europe
The opening of Liquibox’s new plant in Madrid marks a significant milestone in the liquid and semi-liquid packaging industry. This new centre of excellence, located in Madrid’s Vicálvaro neighbourhood, not only represents a breakthrough in Bag-in-Box packaging technology, but also reflects a commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The building, with an area of 13,000 m2, has been designed to triple the company’s bag manufacturing capacity in Europe and increase the variety of flexible bag types and sizes that the company can offer to the market.
The architecture and engineering of the plant, which has been the responsibility of Cross, has been carefully planned to accommodate the high-tech operations that will take place inside.
With a larger, more flexible space for 16 bag-making machines and additional storage capacity, the plant is ready to respond to changes in volume and product offerings, thereby minimizing waste and optimizing efficiency.
The inauguration was also attended by Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, who highlighted the creation of more than 100 new direct jobs and the positive impact that the plant will have on the local economy.
Lasquetty’s presence underscores the importance of investment in the region and local government support for initiatives that foster economic growth and innovation.
Liquibox, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, and with more than 19 industrial and logistics locations around the world, consolidates with this opening as a leader in its sector, offering packaging solutions that not only meet current market needs but also promote more sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
