Challenge

The objective of this project was to provide MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) consultancy and design services and subsequent project management for the construction of a free shop at the international airports of Menorca, Spain and Mumbai, India.

The challenge was to export the process followed in Menorca to another city in another continent and above all, to a different culture. It was a project with a surface area of more than 1,200 m2 where a variety of duty-free products would be offered to a large number of people who pass through the airport on a daily basis.

Process

The project was developed in the following phases:

Technical and economic feasibility study: site conditions, applicable regulations, customer requirements and estimated project costs were analysed.
Drafting of the preliminary and basic project: the general characteristics of the free shop were defined, such as the spatial distribution, MEP systems and security measures.
The executive project was drawn up, including plans, calculations, technical specifications and budgets for each of the project’s items.
Supervised and coordinated the work. Interdependently with the other parties involved in the project, we monitored and controlled the quality, deadline and cost of the work, as well as coordination between teams.
Verification of compliance with the project objectives, testing and commissioning of the MEP systems and delivery of the final project documentation.
